I'm Kevin Nyarang'o.
A Software Engineer based in Nairobi. While on the path of becoming a Certified Financial Analytic, I have developed meaningful experties in Finance & Software. I hope to leverage these skills in the Fintech industry.
My story
Growing up, my curiousity was my superpower, and still it is...
Like many other children in the Ghetto I lived a day at a time. Everyday's experience had little to do with ambitions nor passions (but fun, I'm glad it was that way). I techinically didn't know what my passion was, other than I wanted to be a judge (for the enormous amount of power they yield). Regardless, as time passed I quickly got obsesses with technology.
Tech being synonymous with games to me at the time. I would of spare every change I had to spend it at popular play stations around the hood. Among the play station games of the late 2000s PES was my favourite, but I enjoyed Mortal Kombact 4 and Road Rash as well.
Education and Seeking a Career Path By Experimenting
An honest critic of my career ambitions can only tell of someone who was not sure of what path to take...
After high school, the next chapter was getting into college. I juggled between Law and Medicine but ended up pursuing Actuarial Science and graduated in 2022, at Daystar University. I quickly developed a passion in the subject, after understanding it had maths, finance and some programming.
While at campus with my superpower (curiousity) and still being unsure of an exact career path, I spent a lot of time experimenting various career avenues. Significantly on online education platforms, such as LinkedIn Learn, Google Skills, Coursera, Udemy, and even YouTube. Before I realized I was certified as a:
Foundational Financial Analytic ( which would grow to an ambition in Investment and Finance ).
Graphics Designer for the students lead campus newspaper.
Digital Marketer.
Writing and Speech tutor, at Daystar University.
I also taught a few school workers some basic computer skills, and perhaps more noteable I was a Self-Taught Fullstack Software Engineer! I hope to combine all these skills to the greater development of my career and business.
Ongoing Career Pursuits and Interests
With interest in Tech, Finance, and Enterpreneurship I'm making baby steps each day and learning alot ....
My enterpreneurship adventure has been quite edifying. Noteably was in late 2020, while yet a third year, I created HostSafi (a web hosting and domain business). A year later I launched KonzaGadgets (a tech ecommerce) Which due to the complexities of running the ecommerce with limited resources, after a year and a half I discontinued it. I later decided to focus on software services. Again in late 2022 I rebranded HostSafi to DotSavannah, and has since been a profitable business.
I'm fueled with an ever growing desire to learn and grow. I can't accurately tell how my story will playout, knowingly that the sky is the limit. But as of today I'm full of excitement to have booked my spot in the tech Industry. While always seeking my next tech gig, I'm keeping my eyes fixed at the prize and appreciating every experience on the path.
When not working, I'm either exploring nature, doing some charity activity or watching a sci-fi/animation movie with my nephews and niece. I also love swimming, trying some random recipe and running when moods allow.
Further Education and Ambitions
In my pursuit for happiness and success, I quickly learnt they both lay in our human experiences and interactions. So I decided my family's, friend's and acquaintance's happiness will always be my greatest ambition. In general I aspire to spread love and happiness to all who we'll cross paths. I hope to have a positive impact on someone's life.
I'm looking to enroll for an AI and ML master's degree, with hopes to further my eductation to a PHD and beyond, after I sail my startup to success.
